Internet – Science vs Politics – Quote For The Day Or Recursive Thought?

Science vs PoliticsWith Australia’s Senator Stephen Conroy,  Britains recent Internet laws and the USA’s flirtation with “Net-Neutrality” reading the quote below from times past struck me as pertinent, whether we are Micro ISV’s or just regular Internet users:

Michael Crichton once said;

“In the end, science offers us the only way out of politics. And if we allow science to become politicized, then we are lost. We will enter the Internet version of the Dark Ages, an era of shifting fears and wild prejudices transmitted to people who don’t know any better. That’s not a good future for the human race. That’s our past.”

Worthy of keeping in mind – if it’s not too late already.

PS:  Does this apply to “Anthropomorphic Climate Change” debate too?  Oh I forgot!  The Watermelons have told us that there “…is no debate” between cat calling those who sift through evidence as “deniers” whether they’ve “denied” it or not.  ;-)

    Michael Crichton was NOT REFERRING TO CLIMATE CHANGE when he wrote this. STRAWMAN….

      Really? Perhaps that's why it was phrased as a rhetorical question above?

      Damn! You're shouting too. Somebody drop your lentil casserole on the floor?

    so you deny climate change? are you illeterate?

      Illeterate? Hmmm. Do you mean "illiterate" perhaps?

      Hell. I've even got a grasp on using capital letters when beginning sentences.

      But wait! There's more!!

      I can read an article and not come to a conclusion based upon an unstated contention.

      @Archi,

      My condolences for your capitally challenged keyboard and your proclivity for donkey assessment of "fact".

    the science of climate change is known fact. denying it is the sign of a fool. only fools deny this and that is another known fact. your insulting replies are cruel. my keyboard is stuck and capitital letters are turned off.

    Global warming is the biggest threat to the planet. Humans are nothing more than a virus, a plague on the planet and they must be stopped. The sooner the population is reduced to sustainable levels the better!

    A very timely quote given the Internet issue and yeah… While I believe in GW I am tired with how its so political and the OPs point is amply demonstrated with some of the comments above.

    I'm confused. Where does the articles author say he denies anything? He merely asked if the melding of science and politics, as per the Crichton quote, applied to AGW. Talk about prove a point!

Micro ISV SEO Semantics Blind Faith Sheeple ?

Dunno about you, but sometimes, for me at least, reading comments on forums from Micro ISV's, though to be fair it's not just Micro ISV types, is like listening to the lyrics of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds...
